This is a classic case of "I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but here's how you need to do it."

I know, from experience, that sometimes you need to feel the kids out. Some kids are practice players. They will whip anybody in practice, knock people down and kick butt. But you put them in the game and they fall in a fetal position and suck their thumb first chance they get. You try to coach the kid up, he needs confidence, experience. He keeps doing it. Get him out of there!

Then there are the gamers. These kids get their butts whipped everypractice, but they keep coming. Everytime they are in the game they make a play. You think it may be a fluke. Then you start them and they play great.

My point is this: Tony Dungy couldn't change what's been going on in Coeburn the last few years in 6 weeks and neither can Matt Hamilton.

It takes time to learn the players. Your schedule hasn't been easy either. You need to stand behind the coach and quit trying to figure out things that don't make sense to you, especially when you don't want them to.
